I first tasted Mulay's Sausage at the Crested Butte Art Festival a few years ago. I was with a good friend from Miami, who has had a career of catering big events and he told me, "this is the best sausage I have ever eaten and I have tried hundreds." I ate several then and during every trip back to CB, where we have a second home.
I live in Miami and though I would order a case of Mulay's Sausage for the big University of Miami v. Florida State University football game scheduled for Labor Day. The sausages were delivered just as my office was ordered to evacuate due to Hurricane Frances and I did not know they were there. I panicked thinking that my sausages might be ruined, but they stayed cold enough and we cooked them up on Friday for the rescheduled game. Our tailgating party was a huge success and a bunch of people described the sausages as "the best ever" They are. UM won in overtime and now I think I am going to have to order more Mulay's for the big games. My tailgating friends are not going to take anything less.
